The brief for this seaside cottage was to create a bright, open yet warm private residence which would have a strong connection to both the private gardens and the Forth Estuary. The cottage enjoys an elevated site with extensive view to the seashore. Sitting on the edge of the conservation area the conversion combined extensive alterations with a contemporary new build extension which would maximise the views from the property. The objective was to achieve a design solution which maintained strong visual connections throughout the floor plan and spaces, Through to the external terrace and garden spaces. The house is a peaceful retreat enjoyed by the client’s family whilst offering an interior environment which is conducive to entertaining guests allowing movement throughout the home and the gardens.
